Collection: Floral Fragrances

Floral fragrances are the largest family on the fragrance wheel, covering everything from dewy green freesia to narcotic tuberose, and they share a position in the composition rather than a single smell.

Rose alone travels from green and dewy to honeyed to almost animalic depending on the harvest and the method of extraction, and Bulgarian rose otto smells nothing like Turkish rose absolute. Jasmine is the most important floral in perfumery and turns surprisingly carnal at full concentration. Iris comes from the root rather than the flower, which is why it smells powdery, and it costs more than almost anything else on the perfumer’s bench. Lily of the valley has no usable natural extract at all and is always constructed from aroma molecules.
