Collection: Fruity Fragrances

Fruity fragrances are built almost entirely from aroma molecules rather than natural extracts, because most fruit gives up nothing usable when it is distilled.

Citrus rind is the exception, since its oil sits close to the surface and presses out easily. Peach, raspberry, pear, and blackcurrant have no useful natural extract, so perfumers construct them from materials such as peach lactones and fruity esters. The results are vivid and immediate, and also highly volatile, which is why fruity fragrances need a substantial floral heart and a wood or musk base underneath them. Fig sits slightly apart from the rest, combining green, milky, and woody facets rather than sweetness.
