    A signature Diptyque fragrance inspired by the bohemian spirit of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the 1960s, 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain evokes the atmosphere of Diptyque’s very first boutique. Mosses and blackcurrant leaves mingle with warm Oriental spices, creating a distinctive, layered scent that captures the brand’s enduring art de vivre.

    The Story

    In 1963, Diptyque’s founders Yves Coueslant, Christiane Gautrot, and Desmond Knox-Leet opened their first boutique in Paris’s Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Their shared fascination with nature and desire to translate their olfactory memories into scent led to Diptyque’s first three candles: Aubépine, Cannelle, and Thé.

    That original collection grew into an exceptional herbarium of more than 50 fragrances inspired by flowers, fruits, trees, herbs, and spices. 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain pays tribute to that heritage with a fragrance that embodies the eclectic spirit and sensory richness of the original boutique.


    Craftsmanship

    Each Diptyque candle is crafted from a carefully selected blend of waxes and a high-quality fragrance concentrate, paired with a specially selected wick for balanced fragrance diffusion and combustion. Master candle makers in France oversee production at two facilities near Paris and in Provence, continuing Diptyque’s tradition of exceptional candle-making expertise.

    CARE INSTRUCTIONS

    Care for your Diptyque candle to maximize its lifespan and ensure an even, safe burn.

    Before Lighting

    Place on a flat, heat-resistant surface and protect delicate surfaces such as wood or marble with a tray.
    Keep away from flammable materials, drafts, children, and pets.

    First Burn

    • Light with a match.
    • Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface forms an even pool of melted wax, approximately 4 hours depending on the fragrance. This helps prevent tunneling and promotes an even burn.
    • A small amount of smoke from the wick when first lit is normal.

    While Burning

    • Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time.
    • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
    • Do not move the candle while burning or while the wax is hot.
    • Keep at least 4 inches (10 cm) between multiple burning candles.

    After Use

    Extinguish with a candle snuffer to help prevent hot wax from splashing.
    Allow the candle and wax to cool completely before moving.
